To volunteer for the Hospice Palliative Care Association of PEI you are required
to attend a 9 session Volunteer Training Course. This is a very informative
and interesting 18 hour course. Costs for this course is $25. This Certificate
course is recognized by all health care providers and health care institutions
on PEI. Applicants must complete entire course (9 sessions) to receive certificate.
There is no requirement to become a Hospice Volunteer after taking this course.
Those who wish to volunteer for the Association must participate in an individual
interview with the local Hospice Coordinator prior to being assigned to a
patient/family. Criminal record checks are required as part of this interview.
Training sessions in East Prince are usually held in early in the new year
and in Queens, sessions are held in either April or May of each year. Sessions
in Eastern Kings and West Prince are held on an 'as required' basis. For more
